Thankful or Not?

Believe it or not, there are some things that not just you can take for granted and not really appreciate, but people and individuals that have been through a lot such as myself. When I look back at all that I have been through within the last 26 years of my life I have a perfect memory, I have a lot of things to be thankful and after reading this I would like for you to do the same.

A Jog down Memory Lane...

Growing up as a child, even up to my teenage years, I did not have the luxury of getting everything that I desired or wanted. The latest phones, the latest computers, the latest game systems. It was not because my parents could not afford it, but this taught my brother and me discipline. I did not really realize this until I got older but parents buying their children everything that they want or say that they "must have" is not good parenting. In fact, I bet you would agree that it's actually spoiling your child. Giving them everything that they want is not discipline. I may have not liked that I could not get what I wanted every time I asked, but my parents did the best that they could, especially my father. Even today my parents do what they can to help my brother and me.

Thankful for the present

Now that I am 26 years old, and comparing my present to my past, I am thankful for all things including my life. Some of you may already know the story of the battle I faced in 2013-2014 with Throat cancer. God knows I wish I could be at a better stance and be healthier than I am now. But I also realize that IT COULD BE WORSE. For that, I am thankful to God for continuing to keep me alive day by day. It truly is a blessing. I have not always been where I am today, I have not always had. the latest iPhone, I have not always had a computer. I thank God for where I am, what I have, and the people He has connected me to, and also the ones who Have disconnected me from as disconnections from things and people can also be a blessing and God knows that those 2 things are something we can be thankful for.

Be Thankful

With the Holidays quickly approaching, and Thanksgiving coming within a few weeks, take some time to think about things and people that you are grateful for. Like me, some of you may have family members, or close friends that have gone on to be with the Lord. I know it seems rough and that you would like them to be back present with you on earth, but be thankful knowing that they are resting with the Lord and that if you continue to be thankful and follow the Lord's will, plan, and purpose for your life, You will see them again. You may not have a full-course meal this Thanksgiving, and you may not get everything that you want in the holidays, but remember the situation could be worse, there is someone who is suffering and does not have what you currently have. Some do not even know or have any family to spend time with through the holidays...

Be thankful :)
